4,4'-Diaminostilbene-2,2'-disulfonic Acid Disodium Salt is an intermediate in the synthesis of 4,4'-Diisothiocyano-2,2'-stilbenedisulfonic Acid, Disodium Salt. Stilbene disulfonates have been employed to inhibit anion transport in a large number of mammalian cell types (GABA, Cl-). Some stilbene disulfonates can bind specifically to proteins that are not anion transporters. DIDS reacts with CD4 glycoprotein on T helper lymphocytes and macrophages, blocking HIV type-1 growth at multiple stages of the viral life cycle. Fluorescence: max. Abs. l = 341, max.
