5-Methoxy-N-methyl-N-(1-methylethyl)-α-oxo-1H-indole-3-acetamide is an intermediate used in the synthesis of 5-Methoxy-N-methyl-N-isopropyl Tryptamine (M271680), which is a psychedelic tryptamine related to N-methyl-N-isopropyltryptamine. 5-Methoxy MiPT potently inhibits the re-uptake of the monoamines serotonin and norepinephrine but does not affect dopamine re-uptake. 5-Methoxy MiPT has no effect on the release of monoamines from rat brain synaptosomes.
