Isophthaldehyde is used as a reagent in the synthesis of 2-chlorobenzoic acid derivatives which display antimicrobial activity. Also used as a reagent in the synthesis of isoniazid derivatives with potent antitubercular activity and novel steroidal spiro-oxindoles as potent antiproliferative agents.
