Trichloromethyl chloroformate is used as a reagent to prepare diisocyanates (e.g. Tolylene 2,4-Diisocyanate [T536710]) with benzene or Furan (F863650) rings. Trichloromethyl chloroformate is also used as a dehydrating agent in organic synthesis.
