(2R,?4S)?-?2-?(1,?1-?Dimethylethyl)?-?4-?[(2E)?-?1-?hydroxy-?2-?methyl-?2-?butenyl]?-?4-?methyl-1,?3-?oxathiolan-?5-?one is a by-product intermediate in synthesizing (R)-(+)-Thiolactomycin (T350880). It is a natural product inhibitor of β-Ketoacyl-AcpM Synthase A (KasA). It inhibits the synthesis of mycolic acid which is a major cell wall component of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Also an inhibitor of D-Aspartate oxidase (DDO).
